How it all Began
Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863. He was a very determined person. He had an idea of a model car and he made it happen. Even when Henry Ford was little, he knew he wanted to fix things. He first started working with machines in the 1890's. When he was 16 he moved to Detroit and worked with printers. After doing that, he realized that working with machines was what he wanted to do. So he got to work with machines and get some experience. Later that year he realized that working with printers is not what he wanted to do with his life. He was capable of so much more. Over the years Henry Ford was getting a reparation on fixing big machines. He even traveled all around the United States fixing things for people. In the year of 1893, on Christmas Eve he created his first working engine. It was his first but could use a lot of improvement. He doubted himself, told himself that "Can I really do this? Is this even possible" He thought about quiting many times, but after meeting one of his great heroes Thomas Edison everything changed. Thomas Edison told him to keep trying, it will work out if you try hard enough. Finally in 1927 Ford's first model came out so model A was made. Model A sold for $385. Although Henry Ford was a great inventor, that's not what he wanted to do with his life. He envisioned creating one car model and improve it in many ways. And he wanted that car to be affordable for anyone. Henry Ford went through so many models because they weren't exactly what he wanted them to be. The next model that got so popular was the Model T in 1909. The Model T was said to be the first reasonably priced car. After this Henry Ford made a revolution with all his cars and how nice the price was. Henry Ford was the type of person that wanted to get his point across and that's what he did. One reason why Henry wanted the model car was to make life as a farmer much easier then it had been. After the model T came out farmers were really thankful for what he did because he made everyone's life much easier. Although many people think that Henry Ford created the first automobile he didn't. He created the first working Assembly line. The Assembly Line was used to help create cars that looked exactly the same with a reasonable price.
The Model T
The Model T, also known as the "Tin Lizzie", was created with the intention of being affordable and useful. It was first created on August 12, 1908 and the prices ranged from $260-$850. This car is often mistakenly called the first car created because of its extreme popularity. It has been one of the major milestones in the history of cars and is very important to the way cars are made today.
